Junior Year Counseling
Junior year is without a doubt the most challenging of the high school experience. Students are typically very involved in student government, extra curricular activities, studying for SAT's , and are enrolled in a most arduous academic curriculum. In addition, students begin focusing on their college options.
College admissions officers look very seriously at junior year performance and choices. There is much to be done this year for students to highlight their strengths and become more appealing candidates to the schools they are considering.
Junior Year Services include:
- A detailed meeting with student and parents in the summer or fall before the academic year to create the final plan.
- An end of semester review to assess and plan standardized testing schedule, Create a realistic first draft of potential colleges.
- Plan spring and summer college visits as well as important summer activities. Spring meetings (immediately before and after spring break) to discuss review college visits, standardized testing results to date, confirm summer plans and continue to shape students' college list.
- Throughout the academic year, discussions as appropriate concerning interviews, athletic recruitment, art and writing portfolios, and performance video DVDs.
- End of academic year meeting with both student and parents to review previous years academic performance, standardized testing results, extracurricular choices, and plan senior years academic and extracurricular plans.
- Between meeting access to help student and parent to help deal with any special questions or considerations that might crop up during the academic calendar.
