Senior Year Counseling
By the end of the junior year, the student's college profile is fairly well established, especially if a student is considering early admission. We continue to help the student showcase his or her strengths and improve the student profile in the effort of creating an outstanding application and essay.
Senior year services include:
- Meetings with student and parents summer before senior year, create/finalize college list, organize, and review coursework, extra-curricular activities, standardized testing scores, schedule if necessary.
- Interview practice, essay, resume writing, completion of a common application before school begins.
- Advise and assist in preparation of recommendations, supplementary materials, athletic resumes, and art resumes, videos and or audio DVDs.
- Continue to work on applications, essays as needed.
- A fall meeting with students and parents to review college visits. Confirm final college list.
- Submit early admission application.
- December meeting to confirm early admission or next steps for deferred or denied applications.
- January meeting, submission of regular applications.
- April meeting, decision time and options for those wait listed at school of their first choice.
- Advise on negotiating financial aid packages and planning of pre-freshman visits.
- Between meeting immediate access to help student and or parents to deal with any problems questions as they arise during the school year.
